Henry Searle
At the age of just 19, Swanage resident Henry Searle was given 12 to 14 months to live after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. However, unwilling to accept that nothing could be done, the family searched world wide for treatments that would extend his life.
In order to pay for the treatment that was not funded by the NHS, the family raised thousands of pounds, with help from local charity Cancare. Many events over the years have taken place in swange to boost funds as part of the 'Support 4 Henry' campaign.
The treatment Henry received gave him a few more years. He spent this time traveling, Mainly to India. Sadly on Easter Sunday the 4th of April 2021 at the Dorchester County Hospital (12 days before his 26th birthday) Henry past away peacefully.
Music by the sea
At the Prince Albert Gardens on the 5th September 2021 a music festival took place. With many bands and acts it was always going to be a fun time to remember Henry. The charity event was a big hit with the locals who are now asking for this to be a annual event. Cancare Burbeck need donations to help people in need of help, support and care when dealing with cancer. Henry's life was helped by this amazing charity - All we can say to them is thank you. But, we can do more and help others by supporting them.
